No more infections, no more colonization? Has anyone been infected, treated and been done with MRSA?

I have not had any more infections, boils since I finished my antibiotic and efforts to decolonize, going on eight months now. I can't say if I'm no longer colonized, because I have not had any culturing done.

If you do not mind if I ask, were you colonized in the nose only? What antibiotic did you take? What efforts did you use to de colonize?

I have no idea if I was colonzied in the nose at all. I have never had a culture of my nose done. I had a lesion cultured. I did however decide to try Sinofresh. I read about it on here at one time, that it kills bacteria in the nose. I used the entire bottle faithfully. If I was colonized in the nose, hopefully that took care of it.
I was prescribed the generic for Bactrim. I was prescribed the medication for 30 days, I took it every twelve hours on the dot.

As far as decolonizing. I cleaned house, disinfected the toilet seat, shower, my bathroom, nearly everyday. I used towels and wash clothes only once and then washed them in hot water. I washed my undies in hot water and a hot, hot dryer. I wore clothes only once. I put Tea tree oil, the pure stuff from the healthfood store in my shower gel. In the beginning, I also used Hibiclense, but then I decided to go the natural route with tea tree oil. I also used Neem cream, where I know I was infected and possibly colonzied. I have used calendula oil. And now I've also used a combination of tea tree oil, eucalyptus and lavender essential oils lightly on my skin, where I was infected. These are just methods I've chosen. I'm not recommending them to anyone but these products are available over the counter to anyone willing to try them, but please be careful with essential oils. They can be very irritating. I also recommend educating yourself on their usage before using them, through books, etc.

The short answer is yes. I had MRSA that I got during surgery. I battled an open wound with MRSA for 2 years.(see old posting " non healing wound" for full story. I had been treated with vanco and zyvox. Vanco only one 14 day treatment due to reaction that nearly killed me. I had 18 X 14day treatments of zyvox over the two year period. Also bactrim in the nose for decolonizing. For me, a third surgery that removed all of the scar from the two previous surgeries the same way you would remove a tumor followed by 14 days of zyvox. I have been MRSA free for 6 months. I have had 12 coposite cultures taken in the past 6 months, they cultured my nose, groin, and underarms. All have been negative. They said I was clear after the first 3 came back negative but after 2 years of fighting MRSA, I made them preform the others to be sure. The only other thing I did different at the time of my last surgery was that my wife had me take Echinacea, an herbal supplement that supposed to help immune system. I have no idea if it made a difference or not! My docs all said it would not hurt, it made the wife happy (that's always a good thing!) so I saw no down side. The 3rd surgery and last zyvox may have done it by it self and I will never know, but there is the chance that the Echinacea did help. I also had 3 composite cultures preformed on my wife and 2 kids after my first three came back negative. So there is hope! Good luck to all that have this nightmare we call MRSA.
