..IN JUNE BROKE LEG/ANKLE IN CAR WRECK. hOFFMANN DEVICE PLACED FOR 2 WEEKS I DEVELOPED INFECTION IN 3 DAYS. PLACED ON IV VANCO - 6 DOSES IN JULY. PLATES/SCREWS INSERTED ..DEVELOPED ANOTHER INFECTION 2 MONTHS LATER..POS. FOR MRSA...2 WEEKS AGO MY DOCTOR REMOVED THE HARDWARE. AND CULTURES IN WOUND BED POS. FOR MRSA. PLACED ON KEFLEX..NOW BACTRIM ..HAVE BEEN TAKING BACTRIM NOW FOR 5 DAYS. I FEEL LIKE TERRIBLE...FEVER, MALAISE, ACHES, HEADACHE, NAUSEA, NO ENERGY. THE WOUND IS STILL DRAINING ALOT OF PUS-YELLOW...MY STITCHES ARE RED AND WARM. WHAT IS GOING ON. MY QUESTION IS...HOW FAST CAN MRSA DEVELOP INTO A OSTEOMYELITIS? WHAT IS THE AVERAGE ADMISSION STAY FOR IV VANCO? I DONT KNOW WHY MY DOCTOR PUT ME ON VANCO IN JULY WITHOUT CONFIRMING MRSA..THEN ONLY GAVE ME 6 DOSES THEN STOPPED...SO CAN THAT AFFECT HOW IT WILL REACT TO MY MRSA NOW/ MY M.D. SEEMED TO BE TRYING TO HIDE THE FACT THAT IT WAS MRSA. KEEPS SAYING I AM A CARRIER AND EVERYTHING. I HAVE HAD 7 SURG. IN THE PAST AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS. NEVER HAD AN INF. DISEASE. I JUST WANT IT GONE.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS IF MRSA IS SPREADING TO THE SYSTEMIC/BLOOD? SHOULD I GO TO THE ER///

THANKS...REALLY///

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune and difficulty and I hope you get better soon.

Soaking the affected member in garlic water made from crushed non-irradiated garlic can greatly help.

If you will read all the garlic threads in this forum you will gain some insight into how to use natural garlic to help yourself get better.

good luck to you.

Jlayn/LISA GI -

Using one name on forum would serve you best… advice given by “LISA GI” using same IP number shared with “Jlayn” was good though.

If you've had hardware removed due to the MRSA infection, then the MRSA is already in the blood. You need an ID specialist in on this. IV vanc is not going to do any good unless it is given 2twice a day for a period of 4-8 weeks depending on the sed rate in the blood, which the ID specialist will test every week. You also need to start working on rebuilding your immune system and supporting it as much as possible during the infection. The 4 phases appear to work the best for everyone no matter where there MRSA is located or whether it is in the blood or skin related. The 4 phases are PHYTONUTRIENTS, PROBIOTICS, MEGE DOSES OF VIT C, and GARLIC that contains at least 6000mcg of allicin per dose. I have been where you are, but I have been MRSA free now for 4 years, doing what I have recommended above.
My prayers are with you. LindaA

Having the wrong antibiotics administered is a bad as having no antibiotics administered. Once my hardware was removed, I was put on IV Cubicin (Daptomycin) and Bactrim for over a month. I could not take vancomycin for I am very allergic to it. My blood was tested often. I was septic when I started. It took about 6 weeks before I started testing clean.

At 10 weeks post op, I was tested again and tested clean. It was then decided that my hip could once again be replaced. I was put on Bactrim, oral, for the next month. I have never tested positive for HA MRSA since then. I still have some chronic joint pain and fatigue, but I no longer feel sick. I am blessed.

PLEASE get an infectious disease specialist to assist you. Your orthopedic surgeon is NOT the doctor to control your infection. They are not trained in controlling super bacteria.

If you are still having fevers, you are not clean.

hugs,
Nancy R.
