I had very severe swelling in my scrotum with very bad pain all over my body.I was seen by a urologist and sent to hospital for surgery.Turn out to be staph infection.I was given several days of antibiotics by IV and an open wound to heal from inside out. About six weeks later a abcess come up on the left cheek of my butt very painfull. It required out patient surgery, open wound and was also staph infection.Ten more days of antibiotics and I thought I was healed, wrong.Today,Sunday May 25,I sit here with swelling on my upper right leg, just under my scrotum, with the same symptoms of the two previous. The Doctors have never said anything about MRSA just said staph infection.Just wanted to see what the folks on this board might think. Thanks,Donnie 13062

You might have to be on antibiotics for up to a year. Build your immune system, take probiotics. 13064

Went to Dr. today due to my third staph infection,in three months, this time on my upper right leg just under my scrotum.Got a 500 mg shot of Kefzol, put me on twice a day Bactrim DS tablets for six weeks, and scheduled a CT scan of my pelvic area. Ask him if he thought it might be mrsa,he said it was staph but not mrsa because it responded to antibiotics when I was in the hospital.I guess my question is why does it keep coming back? My immune system was good up until now,I am hardly every sick, never had surgery up until this staph came along.I am 54 yrs.old, quit drinking and smoking a year ago, eat right and take vitamins. The thing that keeps me going now through all this now is the grace of God. I will let y'all know how it all turns out. Thanks and Good health to all,Donnie 13078

My boyfriend had a small bump on his scrotum last week. He tried squeezing it a little but nothing came out of it so he left it alone cause he said it was really sore. A day or two later his scrotum swelled up the size of a softball. I took him to the hospital and they diagnosed him with epididymisis, which is swelling of the scrotum. We came home, and the next day we went to another hospital and he had to end up having surgery. Just like you, they cut his scrotum and drained it and packed it with gauze. They didn't tell him anything about mrsa or staff. Three days after him having surgery they were changing his gauze and had found a piece of gauze that had been in his scrotum since the night he had surgery. After finding that, the next day they came and told him that he had mrsa. My opinion, he caught mrsa from the piece of gauze that was left in there. He was in the hospital for six days, but mrsa wasn't mentioned until the fourth day of being there. What do you think of the situation. 20790

Amy - He might check with a lawyer about whether there are grounds there for a lawsuit there. The whole thing might have been avoided had he known about garlic water baths. Had he soaked in a garlic water bath immediately upon discovering the bump, in my opinion, it might have gone away without all the swelling and subsequent problems. A side issue is that using garlic to treat infections is something people must learn about on their own and do for themselves because it is not an FDA-approved treatment protocol so doctors cannot recommend it despite the fact that it works. Special interests keep it and other herbal/folk medicine remedies from being approved. People just have to take it upon themselves to learn about them and treat themselves. That's why I am here helping people learn about these things so they can help themselves. There are many garlic threads in this forum to help people learn about the many ways to use garlic to fight staph infections. Good luck to you and your boyfriend. 20792

I found a lump the size of golf ball in the scrotum. Went to the ER. They treated with IV antibiotics.Sent me home. They put me on 2 antibiotics. After three days I was worse. Went back to the ER, they admitted me.And within 48hours scheduled me for surgery. When the pathology came back it was MRSA. I went on a seven day course of Clindamycin. I am doing better now. When the doctor told me it was MRSA it scared me. 24116

I had an ear infection that cleared up after topical and oral antibiotic. Soon after I felt a bump just below ear lobe near back of jaw followed by 3 more across face. Diagnosed as MRSA, another bout of antibiotics cleared that up though I can still feel the cysts. Over the last few days three cysts rapidly grown in scrotum, very painful, now approaching 1.5" approx diameter. Doc saw them today, said "no big deal" everyone has MRSA on their skin, he said and I quote " you can have sex with your wife" prescribed oral doxycycline and take long hot baths. I don't think this is going to work. 24246
