MRSA - Tendon and Arthritus issues?

Hi All, I am new to this forum and have been reading through several of the topics. I got MRSA from a knee surgery back in 2007 and again recently in my throat. Through reading this forum it seems that a couple of standard issues are compromised immune system and fatigue. I have had a couple other issues but not sure they are related to MRSA or maybe the vanco antibiodics. First tendon issues... I had one in my shoulder actually tear all the way through and both ends were frayed. It required surgery to cut and reattch to my bone. Then the tendons in my hips just burn severly sometimes. The other thing is arthritis. I never had it before then suddenly I have it in both knees, my back and neck and other joints that have had some previous trauma. I'm 50 years old, but it just seems like it happend so suddenly that not sure it's just age related. Has anyone else had issues with tendons or arthrits?

Hi, again! Boy, non-irradiated garlic is hard to find here! I've got four bulbs of radiated garlic, though!
At my third store, I found organic elephant garlic - Auerpak brand, which does seem to have a little green sprout (small, but there). Then I read online that elephant garlic isn't really garlic at all, but more of a leek. Is that true? Just wondering if rinsing with the elephant garlic won't do anything but give me garlic breath? :)
If that's the case and I can't find a proper, non-irradiated garlic here, I'll ask my dentist for a prescription mouth rinse, unless you all have another idea? My appointment is in two days, though, so I'm kind of running out of time.
Thank you again, Bob and everybody! I very much appreciate everybody's input and time!!

Good afternoon, everyone!
I need opinions!! I have to have some major dental work done next week – unfortunately it will involve bleeding! I know that any time there’s a break in the skin, we’re at risk for bacterial infections. I used to take antibiotics before the dentist because of my mitral valve prolapse, but the regulations have changed and I no longer do so. I even called my cardiologist for antibiotics, but he said I don’t need them and wouldn’t give me any.
Anyway, I’m very worried about getting another skin or some kind of mouth infection because of the dental work. Could I rinse with garlic afterwards (the raw garlic diluted in water)? Would that do anything? For how long would I rinse? Does the garlic in the jar (the minced garlic) have the same properties as the crushed, raw garlic?
I know I’m worried about something that hasn’t happened (and may not happen), but I’ve been feeling really great lately and would hate to have something happen because of going t... read more

MRSA and Psychological disorders

I am posting this question/story in hopes of finding anyone else with similar situations or answers. I have a life long friend, who was diagnosed with MRSA some three years ago. She has always been a fun loving person and good friend. She is only prescibed meds when she has an outbreak, and the location of the MRSA is in her nasal passage. Her outbreaks occur 3 times a year or more and last up to a month. It seems however that the past 6 months, her personalityhas completely changed. I would describe this change as vicious and nasty. The question I pose is "Are there any connections out there with MRSA spreading to the brain and causing neurological disorders, including complete personality change?" I fear my friend will never be the same since these aren't mood swings, but rather a complete transformation over a six month period.

Thanks to all,
Concerned Friend

Moisturizers

Just wanted to share something I learned about moisturizing when using Hibiclens (from a customer service rep):
Since Hibiclens does not contain a lot of emollients, it will not help prevent drying so this time of year skin may get a little dryer. The emollients in the hand lotion can be a problem, so it's important to use moisturizers that are compatible with CHG/Hibiclens.
Also, Purell actually contains an ingredient that makes it gel that interacts negatively with CHG/Hibiclens. You will need to wash more frequently with Hibiclens if you are using Purell regularly.
I've learned so much from everybody, I'm hoping to return the favor!

According to Russell Blaylock, MD, the best treatment for all wounds, even those
infected with MRSA is a 50:50 mix of Hydrogen Peroxide:Betadine (Povidone Iodine).
Mix the two in equal parts and flood the wound or soak the wound the best you can.

Dr. Blaylock used this extensively ever since he was a resident in neurosurgery. Mix
half hydrogen peroxide with half betadine. Make up enough to use for each treatment.
"Hydrogen peroxide and betadine will kill just about any organism and known virus,
no organism can develop resistance to it," said Dr. Blaylock.

You will notice bubbling as the Hydrogen Peroxide debrides (remove dead,
contaminated or adherent tissue) the wound. Put some betadine on a bandage and
cover the wound. Repeat a 3 or 4 times during the day.

MRSA is resistant to antibiotics, but it is not resistant to antiseptics. This is the most
powerful antiseptic. Usually within a week of treatment most wounds should be clean.

I am back, unfortunately..and I have more questions..I posted a little while back about my son Ricky(he also has TBI) who has MRSA..He got it in Dec..ok..here are my questions:)..First, I changed his diet, hibilicn showers, nare swabs, going probiotics, wiping everything down, giving him garlic pills, using garlic in my cooking, etc..however now he is getting lesions when he is on the antibiotic bactrium.(sp)I am very confused. I thought if he was taking the antibiotics and doing all the other "stuff" the MRSA would clear up? His ID doctors are at a loss. I should mention he is taking Carbatrol, Abilify and Lamitogrigne, but they said that has no interference with bactrium, the antibiotic. Next question..I read somewhere about a special light that would help for lack of Vitamin D..would that include a tanning bed? or is it something else? I am trying real hard to get his immune system balanced..not sure what else to do.I read and follow your suggestions..how long does it take? eeee... read more

does CA-MRSA ever go away WITHOUT antibiotics?

I am writing again regarding my 89 yr. old father who I believe is infected with CA-MRSA.

When he first described his skin condition to me almost 2 months ago now, I felt a creepy tinge of recognition. Having survived an initial bout of MRSA and a few minor recurrences, his description of "spider bites" and areas of inflamed skin worried me enough to drive 700 miles to see if I could help him to convince his doctor to test him for MRSA. To my great dismay his doctor tried to dismiss my concerns when I accompanied my dad on his 3rd doctor visit with this issue. At the end of our 5 minutes, he at least agreed to refer him to a dermatologist. He said he will try to expidite it, but who knows how long it will be before he gets an appointment.

Meanwhile, pop is waking up in a sweat and weakened state and will stagger to the shower in the early a.m. to shower hoping for a little relief from the painful itching. After 2 weeks of trying to help out, I have to leave tomorrow.

I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has mrsa of the sinuses most of the people on this site seem to have the skin type. I have been dealing with this for over a year and have had one sinus surgery and done a 5 week course of vancomycin neither of which helped. If there is anyone out there that has a similar situation I would love to hear about it.

Posted a couple months back about being happy that my teen daughter's toe was only Staph and not MRSA... you gotta love Dr's (or hate them)... anyway - it WAS MRSA that went undiagnosed for about 2 months of ongoing treatments. Dr's could not figure out why the infection wouldn't go away (go figure). They finally reviewed her whole record on my insistance and (drum roll please) announced that it HAD been MRSA all along. "Who told you this wasn't MRSA"? was what the one Dr. said to me. This would be one of those times that counting to ten is a good thing :) Final count = 7 weeks on various antibiotics, 2 more weeks on a different antibiotic to cure the stomach / intestinal issue all the other antibiotics caused, minor surgery to totally remove her big toenail from her left foot, a total of 12 visits to the clinic that is 30 miles away, and one stressed out teenager who simply WON'T be able to wear flip-flops this summer...lol. The infection is gone now :) That is the bottom line, I g... read more

I won't go to the gym and only go to the grocery store once a week and wipe cart down.Is this being overly cautious?

What are the thoughts out there on steam cleaners (Shark Steam Blaster)?? They claim to kill the MRSA bacteria (heat from the steam?), as well as clean / disinfect without harsh chemicals. Any thoughts before I run out and spend money on one? I'm already spending on cleaning products, so this may be a savings in the long run if it really works on MRSA. Thanks!!

MRSA from Saliva = ?

Hi everyone - I've been reading through the forum and know there are some very knowledgeable folks around here and I'd like to get your advice. I work with someone who has MRSA. This sounds a little silly, but I accidentally used their fork for a bite of food. I'm concerned I may have been exposed to MRSA and want to take this seriously, especially as a precaution against my family being infected. It has been less than 48 hours since the "incident" so I'm guessing that's too soon for a culture.

First, where might an infection show up? I've heard plenty about skin and blood infection, but not much about mouth, saliva, throat or digestive tract infection. When/if I get a culture, what should I have tested?

Second, please advise on my best course of action overall!

Thank you!!

Officially 4 YEARS FREE FROM MRSA!!!

I just celebrated 4 years free from MRSA!!! I have had no outbreaks since Feb. 14th
(what a Valentine's Day that was!) 2006. Please see my posts under Nyker. I still use
hibclense on a regular basis, and I'm vigilant about hand washing, etc. I know it can
come back, and I believe my vigilance has contributed to my success. I thank God for the
wonderful infectious disease specialist I visited about my second bout with mrsa.

I wish you all the best---and do not despair. Also, do lots of research. I just know
what has worked for me. Ignore the naysayers and know-it-alls---or at least ask them
how long have they been successful in warding off MRSA. All the best!!!

Tainted Meat Exposed

Extensive research in Europe and Asia has found MRSA in many food animal species, and in the past year, US researchers have begun testing meat sold here. Scientists at Louisiana State University Agricultural Center tested 120 cuts of locally purchased meat and found MRSA in 4 percent of the pork and 1 percent of the beef. A University of Maryland scientist found it in 1 out of 300 pork samples from the Washington, DC, area. And a study in Canada (from which we import thousands of tons of meat annually) found MRSA in 9 percent of 212 pork samples. The percentages may be small, but according to the USDA, Americans eat more than 180 million pounds of meat every day. "When you consider the tiny size of the meat studies, the fact that they found any contamination at all is amazing," says Steven Roach, public health program director for Food Animal Concerns Trust.

In some cases, the tainted meat probably came from infected animals; in others, already infected... read more

Hibiclense and Muropicin Questions

I have been using The antibacterial soap every day and swabbing nose with muropicin first week of every month.Different doctors are telling me different things. Some tell me to swab nose everyday, another says 5 days on and two off,and yet another has told me one week every month? And with the wash they say everyday, and another says three days a week.Anyone have a regimen that is working with these without over doing it? The same with the allicin, oregano, olive leaf extract and C. Should I be doing all these at the same time or alternating some? I can see taking the allicin everyday and the C, but I have been having an issue with the Wild oregano giving me a burning sensation in my chest and causing irritation with bowel movements. I have not brought olive leaf yet.Hope someone who has been without an outbreak for awhile can give me some answers here. Please help anyone ?
